In AV Nodal Re-entry Tachycardia a ‘short-circuit’ is formed between two normal conducting fibres in the heart, called the “fast pathway” (blue) and
the “slow pathway” (pink).
This simple re-entry circuit is one of the most common causes of supra ventricular tachycardia. This ‘short-circuit’ can be treated with a simple procedure called radio-frequency ablation.
