Atrial flutter has a classical ‘saw-toothed’ pattern on the 12 lead ECG. During atrial flutter, the atria beat 2-4 times faster than the Ventricles. Because the atria and ventricles are beating out of synchrony patients will notice symptoms of palpitations or shortness of breath.
